Beer Brewing in B’more with Bob Welch

Get in touch with your inner Zymurgist! You and three friends will learn to brew craft beers in two easy steps –with sampling along the way.

What would you like to brew? A Porter? A Stout? Or maybe a Belgian Style Ale?  You can do that in two easy steps.

Step 1 – Gather at Bob’s house to cook hops and barley malt, and then pitch the yeast.

Step 2 (three to four weeks later) – Decant and bottle your special home brew.

You need to bring along your enthusiasm and 96 12-ounce empty bottles (bottle caps and capper supplied).  You’ll take away four cases of your selected brew and the knowledge of a budding home brewer.

A day on the bay with Captain Ed

A charter fishing trip for up to four people on the Bay built Becky D, captained by Ed Darwin, a living treasure and Dean of Maryland’s charter fleet; captain to Governors, outdoor writers, environmentalists, and other enthusiastic anglers.  Ed fishes out of Mill Creek near Annapolis and knows the Bay from Baltimore Light to Thomas Point and more.  He has been guiding fishing trips for over fifty years and specializes in light tackle fishing for rockfish, while also entertaining customers who also want to catch white perch, bluefish, and other available species.  Ed was recently profiled on Outdoors Maryland /MPT.

The trip will include all tackle, bait and lures; food and beverages; numerous stories from Ed about the Bay and Maryland; and a chance to fish with Jonalyn Denlinger, an award winning Maryland Angler as well as VLP volunteer.  Dates are flexible but the trip requires a very full day: 7:00 AM through mid to late afternoon.

For steamed crab lovers, Ed’s marina is conveniently located very near Cantler’s, Maryland’s hardest to find local crab house on the water.
