Baltimore Free University Registration

Registration for Baltimore Free University courses will take place at the VLP until October 6th, during regular library hours, but phone or mail-in registration is not accepted at this time.  No late registrations will be accepted after October 6th.  Call the VLP at (410) 235-2210, x206 for additional information.

Baltimore Free University:  Class Struggle and the Road to Socialism

Drawing upon his six decades of "fighting the good fight," Instructor Bob Kaufman will respond to the interests and questions of attendees.  As a backdrop to the discussion of historical events such as The Industrial Revolution, American Expansionism, The Cold War, and the Cuban Revolution, Bob posits "socialism is the only answer to the myriad of crises wrought by capitalism in its imperialist stage."

Baltimore Free University:  Soup de jour - EVERY jour!  (must be 21+)

Learn the secrets of making great soup!  Bring a take-home container and enjoy fresh soup at the end of each class.  Each week the class will concentrate on a different style of soup.  Please bring $10 to the first class (cash only) to cover food supplies and materials.

Lights On After-School!, the only nationwide event celebrating after-school, brings attention to the need for after-school programs that keep kids safe, help working families, and improve academic achievement.  The VLP's event will engage parents and program youth in storytelling, crafts, and book giveaways.

Baltimore Free University:  Multi-Linguistic Learning Group

A forum where diverse individuals can share personal experiences, linguistic and cultural, as citizens and/or as visitors to America.  The forum is intended as a context in which participants can share reflection, again both linguistic and cultural, on their homelands.  It will allow everyone, including the facilitator, to learn from each other, with reference both to diverse language and diverse culture.

Holiday Artisan Market ~ Avoid the mall!  Enjoy free music and refreshments while holiday shopping at the Village Learning Place. November’s 2nd Wednesdays Program will feature local artisans displaying their high quality crafts in multiple media (pottery, wood, metal, etc.).  Raffle drawings will be held throughout the evening.

 20% of the evening’s sales will be donated to the VLP.
