LINK Summer

Pre-K to 6th grade

In-Person for 2024

Pre-K through 6th graders are invited to LINK (Let’s Invest in Neighborhood Kids) Summer from Monday, July 1st through Friday, August 9th, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Program will be closed July 4th & 5th for Independence Day. LINK Summer at the Village Learning Place is a dynamic, educational program offering lessons in literacy, math, and science, plus enrichment workshops and weekly field trips! Students will receive breakfast and lunch through our partnership with Baltimore Housing Authority’s Summer Meals Program, and VLP will provide a morning and afternoon snack for students.

Join us for our Family Fun Night on Thursday, July 18th, and for our End of Summer Celebration on Thursday, August 8th, to check out what our students have been up to this summer!

Education

During the program, students will have the opportunity to work with staff to enhance their skills in math, science, and reading. Our teachers and classroom assistants will help to reinforce what students learned during the school year to help prevent the “summer slide.” We will also include important elements of character education in our curriculum like building relationships, identifying feelings, and being a strong community member to name a few.

Enrichment

Students will be exposed to new skills and ideas through enrichment classes like sculpture, mindfulness, fitness, dancing, visual art, cooking, gardening, technology, and many more.

Exploration

We understand that learning should be fun and doesn’t always take place in the classroom. Our students will be able to enjoy learning in our garden, in our historic library, on community walks, and during our Friday field trips. Students and program staff will attend field trips to places like the zoo, aquarium, museums, and other destinations that will capture students’ imaginations.
