Community Meeting Updates

Dear Friends of the Village Learning Place,

Thank you to those who could attend our community meeting in June to discuss our FY2018 budget. The VLP is immensely grateful for your support. For those who were unable to attend, we want to make sure you are informed and know how you can engage in generating ideas and solutions as we move forward.

As we shared at the meeting, the VLP Board of Directors is facing difficult decisions about future programming and services, because of anticipated revenue shortfalls due to cuts in government funding. So we turned to the dedicated and inventive people who’ve made our work at the VLP possible: you! At the community meeting, we sought feedback from our founders, program committees, LINK parents, neighbors, and others who have formed meaningful relationships with the VLP. Our purpose: to seek community input regarding the FY2018 budget.

Attendees gave a wide range of insightful, productive ideas to generate additional revenue and reduce expenses. You can view all the suggestions here.

If you couldn’t attend, or you’ve thought of something new, there is still time to participate! Email your suggestions for increasing revenue or reducing expenses to Please send your ideas by July 17 at noon.

All suggestions will be discussed with the Board during our July 17 meeting. The Board will meet again on August 1 to finalize the FY2018 budget. In mid-August, we will post updates on our Facebook and Twitter accounts, as well as our website.

Again, we thank you for your incredible dedication to the Village Learning Place. By working together, we can make thoughtful, practical decisions about the FY2018 budget, so the VLP can continue serving our students, parents, neighbors, and friends. If you have any questions about this process, please reach out.
