Live from Monterey Bay

Students in Let’s Invest in Neighborhood Kids (LINK) After School grades 3rd through 6th learned about life aboard the EV Nautilus, and marine life in Monterey Bay, California, Tuesday afternoon through the National Geographic Society Explorer Classroom. LINK After School students participated in a video conference with scientists currently working and living on the EV Nautilus. They learned about the scientists’ daily routines, common occurrences such as dumbo octopus sightings, and the technology scientists use to explore the ocean. Then, three LINK students asked the scientists questions of their own—Dahlia (3rd grade, 29:00), Damont (5th grade, 42:26), and Anthony (3rd grade, 53:45).

“It felt pretty good because we actually saw it ourselves. We actually got to ask them a question,” Damont said.
