2nd Wednesdays | Cooking with Chiles

Local chefs and mother/son cooking team Shelley and Peter Treadway will showcase different kitchen techniques for cooking with chiles. Attendees will be invited to sample several dishes from different regions of the world that all use chiles.

Chiles are an important flavoring ingredient in traditional Mexican, Asian, Middle eastern and African cookery. In Europe they are widely used in Hungarian, Italian and Spanish cooking. Dried chiles are ground into powder, or made into sauces after being toasted whole and soaked or simmered in hot water until they’re soft. Fresh chiles are stuffed, sautéed in olive oil or chopped for adding flavor and heat to dishes.

2nd Wednesdays features dynamic presenters who showcase their knowledge about a specific piece of culture: history, politics, music, culinary arts, and more. Each program kicks off with a neighborhood social from 7:00–7:30pm, with presentations beginning immediately after. Free parking is available in the parking lot behind 2510 Saint Paul St.
