Mental Health First Aid Training

Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to determine, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance abuse disorders. This 8-hour training provides the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health illness or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care. The course is 8 hours and will be split into two 4-hour sessions.

The first session of this course will take place on Wednesday, April 24, from 9:00am–1:00pm at Nate Tatum Center.

This training covers:

  • Common signs and symptoms of mental illness and substance abuse
  • How to interact with a person in crisis
  • How to connect the person with help
  • Now to administer naloxone in the event of an opioid overdose
