LINK Leaders School Year

LINK (Let’s Invest in Neighborhood Kids) is an initiative offering programs and services to strengthen our entire community.

LINK Leaders serves 7th to 10th grade students every day during the school year, Monday-Friday, from 2:30–5:30pm. LINK Leaders will support learning while guiding middle and high school students to graduation and into college, technical training, and/or the workforce. LINK Leaders aims to provide students access to dynamic learning and networking opportunities. The LINK Leaders program focuses on character-building and leadership training through hands-on education, workshops, and partnerships with community leaders. Community service will be emphasized within the college and career-readiness curriculum.

The 2018 LINK Leaders Summer class meets with guest career panelist Nigel-Ray Garcia, Programs Manager at Baltimore Corps.

The LINK Leaders program schedule is different than PreK-6th programming and daily attendance is not required. Instead, students will elect to participate in a variety of workshops and enrichment opportunities throughout the school year. Students in the Leaders program should plan to attend at least 15 hours of programming per month. Students are expected to attend the sessions that they sign up for and to communicate with staff when scheduling conflicts arise. Additionally, all LINK Leaders are expected to participate in a base number of service learning and leadership development hours each month.

The LINK Leaders schedule is Mondays through Fridays from 2:30pm until 5:30pm. Each day will start with a self-guided period for study and transition time from 2:30-3:30pm. Structured programming will take place from 3:30-5:00pm each day featuring a variety of activities including enrichment workshops, college & career exploration, leadership development, and service learning. Dinner is served beginning at 5:00pm.
