LINK Summer

LINK (Let’s Invest in Neighborhood Kids) Summer at the Village Learning Place is an educational and creative program offering lessons on a variety of topics.

VLP has made the decision that LINK Summer and LINK Leaders Summer will transition to a virtual learning experience for 2020. Currently, our plan is to offer 6-weeks of summer learning from Monday, June 29 to Friday, August 7. We are imagining the virtual summer experience will have 3 learning paths – Online interactive sessions; Pre-recorded static workshops; & No Tech track (without worksheets). VLP will be applying to be a site for the Summer Meals grab & go service. In addition to food, we are planning to have weekly supply packets available for families in our program so that they have the materials needed for the activities each week. For those families without technology, we will create at-home learning explorations, projects, and hands-on kits. We are also planning to utilize the library catalog to check in and out classroom educational resources (such as blocks, puzzles, and games) in addition to our normal collection of books.

LINK Summer is designed to prevent summer learning loss and to inspire creativity. Our hope is to meet those goals with a virtual experience in 2020.
