Opportunities to earn while you learn

  • Teens who will be 14 years old by July 4 may apply to YouthWorks (oedworks.com) and be paid a stipend through the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development (MOED) to attend our programming. You must apply to Youthworks by the application deadline to be accepted into that program. The deadline this year is April 14. If your student needs assistance with their Youthworks application please join us at the library during our Tech Help hours.

  • All enrolled students will participate in a group service-learning project that can yield up to 25 hours of service hours towards the high school graduation requirement.

  • Interested teens are invited to sell concessions to families at our summer Family Fun Night, which will be held on Thursday, July 24.

  • Our entrepreneurship curriculum often culminates with a judged competition with prizes awarded to top finishers.

  • Students not earning a stipend through Youthworks may get a smaller stipend for participating in career and college programming.

  • Additionally, our college and career curriculum will help motivated students find work outside of summer hours.

How to Enroll:

A link to our online application will be emailed to returning families on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 12pm. Families whose students have previously been enrolled in our programming will have a jump start on pre-registering for Summer 2025.

Pre-registration opens for new students opens March 10th. Pre-registration holds your spot in line while we process the first round of applicants. If a spot is available for your student, you will receive an email with a link to our online application.

We will close pre-registration when our roster and waitlist are full.

To finalize enrollment, all families must submit a completed application and plan to attend a mandatory family orientation in the VLP library. Family orientation is required for all enrolled students, including those enrolled in Youthworks.

Orientation dates are below.

Tuesday, June 3rd @ 6pm

Thursday, June 5th @ 4pm

Note: A parent/caregiver or an emergency contact (18 years or older) MUST attend the mandatory LINK Leaders family orientation. Students who will receive a Youthworks stipend are also expected to attend the family orientation. Failure to attend will result in a loss of the roster spot and (potentially) the loss of a Youthworks placement.
