2nd Wednesdays

2nd Wednesdays is a series of free lectures, concerts, and special arts events for all adults in the community. This series spotlights local talent and provides a first-rate cultural experience. Its other aim is to afford community adults an opportunity to spend time sharing culture and conversation with neighbors. It’s held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm. Each program kicks off with a neighborhood social from 7:00–7:30 pm with presentations beginning immediately after. Free parking is available in the parking lot behind 2510 St. Paul Street.

Wednesday, April 10 – “Andrea Brachfeld and Insight”

Flutist Andrea Brachfeld is an award-winning performer, composer, arranger and producer. She graduated from the Manhattan School of Music, was a recipient of the “Best Jazz Flute“ award from Hot House Magazine in 2015, and has associated with Tito Puente, Ray Barretto, Hubert Laws, Nestor Torres, Dave Valentín, Paquito D’Rivera, Wycliffe Gordon and Wallace Roney, among many others.

Wednesday, May 8 – “From Country Estates To Municipal Parks: How Baltimore Created a First Class Public Park System”

William Patterson donated five acres of land in 1827 for Baltimore’s first public park and from there the city has created a first-class network of parks that cover thousands of acres. Family estates that at one time ringed Baltimore City, including of the Hopkins, Carroll, Wyman, Rogers, Winans and other families, were converted into promenades, nature walks, ballfields, and swimming pools. Join Baltimore Heritage’s Director, Johns Hopkins, to learn about Baltimore historic parks and how they have shaped our city.

Wednesday, June 12 – “Baltimore in Other Words”

The Dan Meyer Choir is presents four-part choral settings of poetry written about Baltimore over the centuries. Get a fresh perspective on Baltimore’s history and people through the voices of past poets!
