Field Trip Explorations

Field trips during LINK Summer are such an amazing learning experience for our students. Exploratory learning is an integral part of youth development and education, and we are so fortunate to have access to so many amazing resources that provide our students with these opportunities.

“A fun trip to the beach gave our students a chance to learn about jellyfish and different shells. The team building that happens every year at Adventure Park in Sandy Springs is inspiring. Students have conquered fears, trusted peers, and tried new activities. A continuous fan favorite is the Turkey Hill Experience. Some of the ice cream flavors that the students created in the Tasting Lab were interesting, to say the least. It evokes creativity and laughter. As we journey back from Pennsylvania, we have high hopes that we won’t see those ice cream treats return. We are excited to learn new things at a few museums in DC and take another trip to the beach to close out the Summer.”

“The summer of 2023 has seen the Leaders program reach new heights. Finally, free of the worst of the pandemic, we have a larger enrollment than ever with more field trips! Fridays this year is a mix of challenging the students with new activities and new ideas, having fun, and allowing the students some autonomy, independence, and choice along the way.

We have gone to the BMA for the Culture exhibit on Hip Hop and its influences, participated in a workshop at AVAM, gone on a hike at Great Falls National Park, gone kayaking and explored a wetland with the National Aquarium, and toured the US Supreme Court building and the US Capitol. The kids are really looking forward to our final two field trips of the year (Six Flags and our annual trip to the beach!) which will include lots of summer fun!”
