LIBRARY OF THINGS

Library of Things

Submitted by Annie Malone, Director of Library Programs & Services

A library of things is a collection of items available for borrowing—stuff like baking pans, recreational equipment, and event supplies are often included as they are occasionally useful but can be difficult to store in a Baltimore City rowhome. A well-curated library of things provides our community access to specialty stuff that can enrich our lives, like a big table for your extended family to dine together during the holidays, or camping gear that makes you feel more confident exploring the outdoors.

In addition to a collection of things, VLP is excited to include passes to the Maryland Zoo and passes to the National Aquarium in our Library of Things. VLP library patrons can check out one ticket per site annually. Stop by the library and chat with our librarians to plan your trip!

Finally, our Library of Things will also feature a seed library! VLP will have seeds available for library patrons to take home and plant. Unlike other items in our collections, we won’t expect you to return these seeds to us. Instead, post a photo online when your plant is thriving and tag us @villagelearningplace!

Plan to stop by the library this month to learn about our new projects!
